What Are Aluminum Plastic PPR Pipes?
Aluminum Plastic PPR Pipes (often called PPR-Aluminum-PPR Composite Pipes) are a hybrid plumbing solution that combines the strengths of two materials: PPR and aluminum. Unlike "pure plastic PPR pipes", these pipes have a layered structure-typically with PPR as the inner and outer layers, and a thin aluminum layer sandwiched in between. This design merges PPR's safety for drinking water with aluminum's rigidity, creating a pipe that addresses key limitations of pure plastic or pure metal pipes.
Core Structure: Layered Design for Balanced Performance
The structure is usually 3-layer or 5-layer (for enhanced stability), with the aluminum layer serving as a "reinforcement core":
Inner Layer (PPR): Food-grade, non-toxic PPR that directly contacts water. It meets drinking water safety standards (e.g., NSF, GB), prevents chemical leaching, and resists corrosion from water or cleaning agents.
Middle Layer (Aluminum): A thin, seamless aluminum tube.It adds rigidity, blocks light (to prevent algae growth), and reduces thermal expansion.
Outer Layer (PPR): Protects the aluminum layer from oxidation, physical damage, and UV radiation.
5-layer variant: Adds thin adhesive layers between PPR and aluminum to boost bonding strength, ensuring the layers don't separate over time.
