               Chlorinated polyvinyl chloride (CPVC), also known as perchloride, is made up of specific grade polyvinyl chloride(PVC), and chlorine gas is substituted under the initiation action to produce a new type of product synthetic Polymer Materials, which is a white or yellowish flowable solid powder. The basic performance is similar to that of PVC, but the CPVC prepared by chlorination modification of PVC resin has significantly improved its heat resistance, physical and mechanical properties, chemical stability, and flame retardancy, which is of high quality and low price engineering plastics。

Chlorinated polyvinyl chloride fiber is a type of fiber produced from chlorinated polyvinyl chloride resin. Acetone is used as a solvent to prepare the spinning stock solution, usually with wet spinning. This fiber is called C1evyl in France, Khlorin in Russia, and per chloropropyl in China.

 

            The resin used in the production of this fiber is made by chlorination of polyvinyl chloride. First, suspend the PVC tetrachloroethane chlorobenzene, and then chlorine gas is introduced for chlorination. When the chlorine content of the polymer increases from 56.5% to 63%~65%, it is equivalent to adding a chlorine atom to every three PVC links, which becomes a polymer with the following structure, that is, chlorinated polyvinyl chloride.

Uses: A chlorine-containing fiber. The right chemical agent has a high degree of stability. Resistant to water and fire. It is used to make filter cloth, filler, fishing nets, and work clothes.

Preparation or source: Produced by chlorination of polyvinyl chloride and then dry or wet spinning.

Preparation techniques

 

Preparation of spinning solutionThe solvent is acetone, and the viscosity of the solution varies greatly with the degree of polymerization and the concentration of the solution. Because water has a great effect on the viscosity of the solution, and can even gel it, the content of water in the solvent is required to be less than 0.3%. Generally, the polymerization degree of perchloroethylene is 900~1000, and the concentration of spinning solution is generally controlled at 24~28%.

 

The filtration effect directly affects the breakage rate: the break length of the unfiltered filament is 11.2 km, the break length of the primary filtration is 12.4 km, the break length of the secondary filtration is 13.8 km, and the third filtration is 14.2 km.

 

When preparing the spinning solution, care should be taken to eliminate air bubbles. Static and vacuuming methods are generally used to eliminate air.

 

Filament and staple fibers are typically produced using traditional wet spinning. The coagulation bath is an aqueous solution of acetone, the acetone content in the bath is 4%~13%, the bath temperature is 13~15 °C, and the spinning speed is generally 15~55m/min.

 

One of the advantages of chlorinated PVC fibers is that they can be produced with acetone as a solvent.

 

However, the properties of this fiber are not better than that of PVC fiber.

 

Modification

In order to improve the properties of the fibers, the French company Lomburand Textiles uses a new production method:

1. Mix polyvinyl chloride with 20% chlorine and 69% high-chlorinated polyvinyl chloride and dissolve it in the company carbon disulfide a mixed solvent composed of acetone, the spinning stock solution is made. 

 

2. Dry spinning. The fiber breaking strength obtained by this method is increased from 1.2cN/dtex to 1.7cN/dtex, the elongation at break is reduced from 130% to 65%, and the initial shrinkage temperature is increased from 70°C to 102~105°C.

 

Chlorinated polyvinyl chloride

 

Chlorinated polyvinyl chloride is a type of PVC obtained by chlorinationThermoplastic resins, prepared by solution chlorination, commonly known as perchloroethylene, referred to as CPVC, contains 61~68% chlorine, and the hydrogen atom is not all replaced by chlorine. White or light yellowish purple powder, solubility is better than polyvinyl chloride, soluble in acetone, chlorobenzene, dichloroethane, and tetrachloroethane, heat resistance is 20~40 °C higher than polyvinyl chloride, cold resistance is about 25 °C lower than polyvinyl chloride, not easy to burn, weather resistance, chemical resistance, and water resistance are excellent, pipes can be produced by extrusion, mainly used as hot water pipes. The solution of chlorinated polyvinyl chloride has good adhesion, film-forming, and fibrous properties, and can be used in adhesives, varnishes, and spinning. Adhesives are mainly used for bonding PVC boards and their products. The varnish film can be corrosion-resistant, soft, and wear-resistant and has high peeling strength, and the silk spun from it is called perchlorinated fiber, which is stable to acid, alkali, and salt, and is suitable for chemically resistant filter cloth, workwear, screens, fishing nets, and conveyor belts.
