Core Components of PEX-c Pipe
PEX-c (PEX cross-linked via electron beam irradiation) is made from high-density polyethylene (HDPE) modified through high-energy physics rather than chemicals.
Key Components:
Base Material: HDPE (Density ≥0.945 g/cm³)
Cross-Linking Method: Electron beam irradiation (10–100 kGy dose) creates free radicals that form covalent bonds between polymer chains.
Additives:
Antioxidants (e.g., Irganox 1076)
UV stabilizers (for outdoor use)
Color masterbatch (e.g., blue for cold water, red for hot water)
Cross-Linking Degree: ~60–70% (ASTM F2657 standard).
