Plastic Pipe Scissors: Function & Usage Guide
Function
Plastic pipe scissors (also called tubing cutters or PEX snips) are specialized hand tools for cutting plastic pipes (PEX, PVC, PE-RT) quickly and cleanly. They provide straight, burr-free cuts without crushing the pipe, ensuring proper fittings and leak-free connections.
How to Use Plastic Pipe Scissors
Step-by-Step Guide
1.Open the Jaws
Hold the handles and fully open the scissor blades.
2.Position the Pipe
Place the pipe between the blades, ensuring it's flush against the back of the cutter.
3.Make the Cut
Squeeze the handles firmly in one smooth motion (no twisting).
For thicker pipes, ratcheting scissors may require multiple squeezes.
4.Deburr (Optional)
Use the built-in deburring tool (if available) or sandpaper to smooth rough edges.
