Common Color Types of Copper
Copper is a metallic element with good extensibility and high thermal and electrical conductivity. According to its composition, it can show four different colors of purple, yellow, green and white in appearance, which is what we call red copper, brass, bronze and white copper. In life and production, copper is also present everywhere.
Common Color Types of Copper
There are four main colors of copper in our daily life:
Copper
Refers to pure copper, also known as red copper, named for its purple color. Red copper is generally called red copper because of its rose red color and purple color after an oxide film is formed on the surface. Red copper is copper containing a certain amount of oxygen, so it is also called oxygen-containing copper.
Brass
Brass is an alloy composed of copper and zinc. Brass composed of copper and zinc is called ordinary brass. If it is a variety of alloys composed of two or more elements, it is called special brass.
Bronze
Bronze is the earliest alloy in the history of metal smelting. The alloy of tin or lead added to pure copper has special importance and historical significance.
White Copper
Cupronickel is a copper-based alloy with nickel as the main additive element. It is silver-white and has metallic luster, so it is named cupronickel.
In addition to the above four common colors of copper, copper can form a layer of green basic copper carbonate on the surface of copper in humid air, and red spotted patina can be formed on the surface of some ancient cultural relics. Copper oxide is black solid; anhydrous copper sulfate is white powder; copper sulfate is sky blue.
