Sprinklers Selection


1. For sprinkler heads of closed systems, the nominal operating temperature should be 30°C higher than the maximum ambient temperature.


2. Dry system and pre-action system should use upright sprinklers or dry pendant sprinklers.


3. The selection of sprinkler heads for wet systems should meet the following requirements:


1) For places without suspended ceilings, when the water distribution branch pipes are arranged under the beams, vertical sprinkler heads should be used;


2) The sprinkler heads arranged under the ceiling shall adopt the pendant type sprinkler heads or the ceiling type sprinkler heads;


3) For residential buildings, dormitories, hotel building rooms, medical building wards and offices whose roofs are at the level of light hazard level and medium hazard level I, side wall type sprinklers can be used;


4) For the parts susceptible to collision, sprinklers with protective covers or ceiling sprinklers should be used;


5) Where the top plate is a horizontal plane and there are no obstacles such as beams and ventilation pipes that affect the sprinkler sprinkler, sprinkler sprinklers can be used to expand the coverage area;


6) Household sprinklers should be used in residential buildings and non-residential residential buildings such as dormitories and apartments;


7) Concealed sprinklers should not be used. When it is really necessary to use it, it should only be applied to the places of light and medium hazard class I.


4. The fire separation water curtain shall use open sprinklers or water curtain sprinklers.


5. The protective cooling water curtain should adopt the water curtain nozzle.


6. The automatic sprinkler protection cooling system can adopt the side wall type sprinkler head.


7. Quick response sprinklers should be used in the following places. When quick response sprinklers are used, the system shall be a wet system.


1) Public entertainment places, atrium corridors;


2) Wards and treatment areas of hospitals and sanatoriums, collective activity places for the elderly, children and disabled persons;


3) Floors that exceed the water supply height of the fire pump adapter;


4) Underground commercial premises;


8. Sprinklers with the same thermal performance should be used in the same compartment.


9. The same sprinkler heads should be used in the protected area of the deluge system.


10. Locally applied systems should employ fast response sprinklers.


11. Where a closed system is set up, the type of sprinkler head and the maximum clearance height of the site shall meet the requirements in the table below.
